Interest in "urban farming" is spreading across the US. Many municipalities nationwide are considering permit policies to allow residents to have backyard flocks. This presents opportunities for people to learn about and love chickens and other domestic fowl, as well as the challenges regarding the quality of their care, backyard slaughter in the city, and an increase of abandoned birds in local shelters. Where there is use, there will be abuse.
Chicken Run Rescue encourages advocates to adopt chickens and take an active role in advocating for them as companion animals as this trend continues. Direct Care is Direct Action!
