The Creative Activism workshop will focus on ways to integrate one's passion and livelihood with justice and sustainability issues.
Erick is a co-founder of Substance, which is a Twin Cities based nonprofit organization devoted to merging music, arts and activism. The session at TLOV will include a background of Substance, personal experiences about utilizing interests/specializations for progressive change, and an interactive discussion/breakout related to using creative methods for animal rights organizing.
Part of the overall message will include the importance of partnering with allies across the entire progressive spectrum along with other influential entities that might not be directly tied to activism - in an attempt to break down issue barriers and unify progressive movements.
The goal of the workshop will be to empower attendees to develop ways to engage in animal rights activism using individual areas of expertise.
Some surprise guest appearances are always a possibility.
