TLOV is over, and we hope you all had a great time. Thanks to all the attendees and speakers for coming and participating. Please take what you've learned, and the inspiration you felt, and use it to help animals in your own community.
If you live in the Twin Cities area, we'd strongly encourage you to contact us here at Compassionate Action for Animals and get active with us as a volunteer. We also need your financial support. Please become a donor today.
We hope to see you all again at TLOV 2009.
Thank you,
TLOV Organizers
Freeman Wicklund has graciously agreed to step in and fill the keynote slot that Carol Adams had. We're very grateful for this, since he's doing this on ridiculously last-minute notice.
Thanks, Freeman!
First, some bad news. Due to pressing personal circumstances, Carol Adams will not be able to speak at TLOV. We're all bummed about this, but this is one of this "stuff happens" situations.
We do have some good news, which is that we've added Lorri Bauston to the schedule. Lorri is one of the founders of Farm Sanctuary, and has been active in the animal rights movement for over twenty years. We're excited to welcome her to TLOV!
Things are really picking up here as the conference nears, but so far everything is going smoothly!
Just a reminder to come to the TLOV opening night on Friday, June 6. Come by anytime between 5-9pm to socialize with other attendees and speakers, sign-in at the registration desk, enjoy entertainment, food, and more!
Starting at 6:30pm, We will have plenty of delicious pizzas from the local favorite, Pizza Luce, and some other snacks and refreshments. At 7pm, prepare yourself for delightful jazz music from the J. Tyler O'Neill Trio (http://www.jtyleroneill.com/). And at 7:30pm, if you feel like kicking back and relaxing, we will start a light-hearted film on animal issues.

The all-vegan menu includes breakfast scones and pastries from Common Roots Cafe and Whole Foods, a yummy Asian-African fusion buffet lunch, burritos from Chipotle, the latest in tasty vegan snacks, refreshing beverages and much more!
There should be plenty for you to do during your visit to the Twin Cities outside of the conference--another reason for making the trip out here.
Like any major city, Minneapolis and St. Paul have plenty of restaurants, museums, concerts, theater, cinemas, clubs, parks, etc. If you are trying to find something veg-friendly to do, we have provided you with a small list of places and events to help get you started.
Check it out here, our TC Veg Tourism Mini Guide
We have decided to extend the early registration rate for another week, so it now ends on Friday, May 16th.
Please register ASAP to take advantage of this special deal and invite all your friends and fellow activists!
Over the past few weeks we've confirmed some more featured speakers.
We will be joined by Karen Dawn (author, Thanking the Monkey), Hillary Rettig (Author of The Lifelong Activist), pattrice jones (Author of Aftershock), and Karen Davis (United Poultry Concerns). Don't miss this exciting opportunity to catch so many inspirational activists all under one roof!
We've just published the first draft of the full schedule. There will probably be a few tweaks yet to come, but it should give you a pretty good idea of the great speakers and sessions we will have at the conference.
Now that we've confirmed all of our keynote speakers, we've published the first bits of the schedule. Most of it's empty for now. The parts between keynotes will be filled with various workshops, presentations, and of course lunch.
A special thanks to the Humane Society of the United States and VegNews Magazine for their generous gold sponsorships of the TLOV conference. Check out the full list of sponsors.
We've extended the call for speakers deadline until April 18th. Frankly, we could use more submissions, so if you've been on the fence, please submit your proposal soon. We'd like to have a broad range of speakers, not just "big names". We look forward to seeing your presentations!
We now have our fourth and final keynote speaker confirmed--Carol Adams! Carol has been in the movement for over two decades and is the author of the pioneering book, "The Sexual Politics of Meat," as well as the more recent, "Living Amongst Meat Eaters"
Over the last couple weeks there have been lots of developments! Check out all the brand new sponsors including Alliance for Animals, Compassion Over Killing, In Defense of Animals, and the Vegetarian Resource Group.
We've also been able to confirm with Gene Baur, co-founder and president of Farm Sanctuary, who will be giving the opening keynote address.
Stay tuned!
